Laser for Warts Removal – Overview

Wart is a viral infection of the skin which present as bumpy swelling with rough surface . it is a contagious disease . it bleeds when picked.

Laser surgery uses an intense beam of light, or laser, to burn and destroy the wart tissue. It is usually done in a doctor’s office or clinic. Local or general anesthetic may be used, depending on the number of warts to be removed or the size of the area to be treated.

Indications

If you have warts, your doctor will probably start with a couple of standard treatments. They’ll give you medicine that makes your warts peel away. Or they may use a super-cold liquid to freeze them off. If these treatments don’t do the job, they might try laser surgery.

  • Laser energy is delivered to destroy the WART tissue cells.

FAQs

How long does it take for a wart to fall off after laser treatment?

After the treatment you may experience a tingling sensation where the laser was used, but most do not feel anything. The wart will usually turn a dusky color that progresses to a dark color. Over the next 2-3 week the wart will fall off. You will be completely healed within 2-4 weeks.

Do warts leave a hole?

After a few weeks of therapy, the wart will be dead – dry and calloused looking- and the whole thing will come out in the bath with some gentle rubbing like a button.

Can I cut off a wart?

Whatever you do, do not try to cut off a wart yourself because you may injure yourself and cuts in your skin allow the warts to spread.

Can CO2 laser remove warts?

CO2 laser has numerous applications in dermatology and dermatologic surgery. It is versatile, being either a vaporising tool or a light scalpel. CO2 laser is an excellent modality for treating problematic or recurrent warts. In our experience it has now become the method of choice for warts.

Does laser wart removal leave a scar?

Will laser wart removal leave a scar? It’s unlikely – as long as you don’t pick at the scab! The treatment area may scab and appear red, but this is temporary and will heal in a few days. To prevent any scars from forming, it’s important that you don’t pick at any scabs while your skin is healing!

Can you bleed out from a wart?

Because warts have blood vessels near their surface, they can bleed easily if injured or bumped. The “black dots” often seen at the surface are really small blood clots at the ends of these blood vessels.
